After Maps being a success as your mobile application, you will definitely jump in excitement to know that Google is now working on their turn-by-turn based navigation apps. Location based navigation service provides are the ones who will be strongly hit by this move. Not because of the quality of service, but because of the exorbitant rates that they charge for their services. If this is again a free app by Google, it will definitely break all barriers in premium based navigation services. The good news is that before all the other mobile platforms get the service the Android based mobile would get it first.
Forbes has also mentioned that the apps support voice-based directions, and getting the apps on your phone will not cost you a penny. Infact the apps will come along with an internal ad supported model.
The advertising model is essential for these apps, since it will tell the systems your exact location at a particular time and this will help draw out your destination map. It works both ways, for the advertisers it would give them their business!
Google is being discreet with its map data like for example the Street View. Most mobile carriers have their own functional navigation system services and with Google entering the scene, it would definitely give them a run for their money. Quiet obvious people would take the free apps rather than pay a bomb for a carrier service which could not be as good as Google.
Carolyn Penner, spokeswoman for Google mentioned that almost all mobile users would frequently ask for the navigation to Google maps to be added. She however did not comment on any of their future products.
