The iPhone and iTouch team at Apple is in need of a game developer, and Apple is looking outside its boundaries for the right person. This move could be risky for Apple, since its ignoring its huge in-house talent of independent game developers.
The Appleinsider website on Friday released information that it’s been looking for a game/media software engineer.” The job posting stated that they required engineers that are skilled and are willing to work with their “interactive multimedia experiences on the iPhone and iPod Touch.” And the candidate should have creativity and be flexible enough.
According to Appleinsider, they have developed only 4 in-house apps which include the Texas Hold’em game. Game apps for the iPhone have become a major attraction for developers. Its potential is endless, and anyone including Apple who develops game apps for the iPhone and iPod will see a seemingly endless possibility.
The Apple’s development community would however be a little disappointed with its in-house development expertise in gaming; most of them are independent individuals or small organizations. And this is likely to happen if Apple’s develops its own successful gaming industry.
However no one really knows how everything would turn out to be. This is because other big organizations like Microsoft have their own development teams. The only difference here is that making huge games for devices like the Playstation or the Xbox needs a fairly large investments and it could sometimes be equivalent to producing a movie.
The only reason that could cause a major impact on the developing community is that, since small companies and individuals develop these Apps, the investment is not huge. However if Apple starts its own development team then the dynamics could change.
