A few weeks from now S. Korea will finally get to enjoy the iPhone. The only reason why its launch in the S. Korean markets was delayed is because the local regulators had one more thing to clear before the product was introduced. Now that the last of the hurdle has been taken off the iPhone that has enjoyed undoubted success world over, will now be available to the 47 million market of mobile phone users.
With the iPhone now being introduced local leaders like Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics which are also the second and third largest respectively will have tough competition from the iPhone.
On Wednesday Korean Communication mentioned that it was willing to give Apple’s South Korean branch a license that would help it in gathering vital information so that that they can enhance their services like phone locating, market and even maps.
The country’s no. 2 leaders in mobile carriers KT Corp has already been under talks with the giants in Smartphone technology, iPhone. Infact they had wanted iPhone to enter into the South Korean market and now after receiving its clearance, have mentioned that the Smartphone’s would be on stands soon.
According to leading newspapers in Korea, the sales for iPhone’s could begin by the end of next week. Trying to compete with Apple, Samsung and LG have also bought in their Smartphone’s into the market.
A rule had been lifted in S. Korea that foreign mobile phones could be sold in the local market provided they were with a local platform carrier. In response to this, SK Telecom one of the tops mobile service operators in S. Korea said that it would consider selling the iPhone. We only have to wait and watch till they conclude their decision.
