You will soon find the iPhone being sold by one of UK’s largest retailer store, Tesco. This has always been on Apple’s agenda to team up with Tesco and enter the UK distribution channel.

Tesco will soon start with stocking the world’s most loved smart phones and will be selling it through the Tesco Mobile Shops that they have set up along with O2. News has it that there will be selling the iPhone before the Christmas shopping rush begins. Tesco Mobile said, “It is a bit of a coup to get this before the other operators.”

The only ones to suffer this very profitable month will be Vodafone who is all set to launch the iPhone only after the holiday season is over. Had Vodafone entered the market before or during the Christmas shopping began there would be stiff competition and a possible price war because of Orange as well in the race. Orange too has managed to secure a deal with Apple, however the iPhones are priced similarly to the O2.

Tesco has already made the right moves and this is relevant because of its plunge into the UK mobile phone market. Their plan is to increase its Tesco Mobile outlets to at least 200 all over UK by the end of 2010. Their future plans could also include reducing certain plans, just like their strategies in their other market sections. If it plans on this then the other operators could enter into a stiff mobile market battle.
